Anthropic Exec Forces AI Chatbot on Gay Discord Community, Members Flee

It seems almost absurd to think of having to leave your community, a safe space, a place where you can be yourself without worrying about other people's judgments, because of an AI chatbot. However, this is precisely what happened on a Discord server dedicated to gay gamers over the age of 30.

Every user's online experience differs from that of a friend or colleague, and the need for a community with which to share one's life and passions is natural, as well as being based on the fundamental concept of humanity: the search for sociality. For those who belong to minorities of any kind, however, this search is more complex, as they often have to face prejudice and malice.

On Thanksgiving Day, a famous US holiday, an Anthropic executive and moderator of the Discord server in question imposed the company's AI chatbot on the server, despite several protests and concerns from members. Following this unwanted implementation, the community left the server, thus losing that precious safe space.
