Ransomware takes several digital museums offline

Gallery System, a provider of a cloud services solution for the museum world, suffered a ransomware attack on December 28th that rendered its systems, which allow users to search and view works from various museums, unusable.

The impact of this incident could have wider repercussions than indicated, as the company reports having more than 800 customers in 31 countries, of which 260 are eMuseums.

According to the article, the part of the data not exposed to the public was not compromised, and the data are being restored from backups to their latest available version.
