A former executive of Stability AI, the company behind the famous artificial intelligence Stable Diffusion, resigned publicly a few months ago, following a disagreement with its owners. Finding himself at odds with the misuse of others' content to 'train' AI models, Ed Newton-Rex made his opinion known online, via a post on X.

During the first month of 2024, the former manager of Stability Ai's audio team announced a new project he had recently undertaken. Wanting to protect the work of others from the clutches of large companies that do not respect the works of the individual, Newton-Rex created a non-profit organisation called 'Fairly Trained'.

Fairly Trained offers certification to all companies that 'train' their artificial intelligence services solely and exclusively through data made available consensually by their creators.
