Instacart’s AI Recipes Look Literally Impossible

In May 2023, Instacart, the famous US food delivery service, announced the use of ChatGPT in the generation of recipes and ingredient lists for its users. In the following months, however, there was no further news about the implementation of artificial intelligence.

That was until February 2024, when more and more unusual recipes began to appear on the Instacart site, with equally curious photographs for illustrative purposes. For the past few weeks, in fact, the service in question seems to have been littered with artificially generated recipes accompanied by a short explanatory caption, which emphasises their nature and warns the user to taste the dish as it cooks, adjusting the flavour as they go.

Instacart, however, has not disclosed that it is using images generated by AI services. 404 Media, whose article we are referring to here, contacted the company with questions regarding the images in question, receiving no response.
