During the month of December 2023, the famous New York Times newspaper filed a complaint for copyright infringement by Microsoft and OpenAI; more precisely, the lawsuit took into accountall content generated by the respective artificial intelligences, curiously similar to texts originally published by the NYT.

In order to protect itself from the lawsuit, Microsoft is currently moving to have the lawsuit dismissed, arguing that the newspaper's persistence with the lawsuit is exaggeratedly reminiscent of Hollywood's resistance to the VCR in the 1970s.

Consumers at the time used the device to record television programmes and the entertainment industry feared it would completely destroy the economy of the environment. Behind Microsoft's accusation lies the search for a reason to further undermine the image of the NYT.
