Artificial intelligence is taking over the world, but not in the way science fiction fans expect, or rather, not yet. Facebook, one of the world's most popular platforms with more than 3 billion users, has recently become a breeding ground for a new kind of advertising.

Whole pages generated by artificial intelligence and viral images of a shrimp Jesus are just two examples of how this technology has been taking over online environments for more than a year now. Nowadays, it seems impossible to navigate the vast world of the Internet without coming across these particularly blunt images, whose contours blend into one another.

This situation was studied and reported in a thorough analysis by a team of researchers from Stanford University and Georgetown University, who subsequently identified the trap set by these posts. They contain links that redirect the user outside the platform, more precisely to 'news' sites selling low quality products.
