Every innovation in the technological environment is bound to permanently change global energy consumption. Due to the 'recent' rise in popularity of artificial intelligence (and quantum computing), it is inevitable that energy consumption will experience significant spikes.

According to National Grid, a British multinational energy company, the consumption of data centres will increase several times over the next ten years - if nothing is done to prepare for this development, this increase will have disastrous consequences in several respects.

The company's CEO recently shared his concerns, pointing out that 'the grid is becoming limited' and that bold action is needed to create a network capable of coping with dramatically increasing demand.
