Why lend your computing power to scientific projects such as SETI or other initiatives, when you can 'sell' your unused GPU for the creation of AI-generated pornographic content and potentially violate someone's privacy or commit acts of violence?

After the hype around virtual currencies and cryptocurrencies, here is a new business model in which the gamer who is not playing can rent out his GPU to generate AI-generated content, in exchange for gift-cards or other forms of in-game remuneration (e.g. Fortnite skins).

An article that, unfortunately, does not come as much of a surprise and rather confirms the trend of a technology that is getting completely out of control, totally lacking in ethics, morals and respect.

As a personal note (^SZ), let us recall that AI-generative technologies have no concept of 'ethics' or 'morals', and whose generative limits are imposed by rules written by programmers, thus not interpreted.

It will also be interesting to observe the legal consequences of these kinds of services: we have already seen abuses and violence such as celebrity deepfakes (or the bots available on Telegram): will those who subscribe to similar services be considered participants in a violation of privacy or any other form of crime related to the generation of this content?

Probably today more than ever, reasoning about the origins of digital content and its authors becomes essential: Artificial Intelligence technologies are introducing a new, insidious and infamous enemy: trust. How can we distinguish what is true from what has been purposely generated? Who generated a piece of content and how did they do it?
