Apple deletes WhatsApp, Threads from China app store on orders from Beijing.

Following a direct order from the Cyberspace Administration of China, Apple was forced to remove WhatsApp and Threads from the Chinese app store for national security reasons. 

Both of the aforementioned apps were little used within the nation, in addition to already being blocked - they could only be accessed through VPNs capable of encrypting Internet traffic and hiding the user's online identity.

This decision seems to have deepened the chasm present between already divided, delineated technological universes. It will, surely, lead to significant inconvenience for all those who use WhatsApp to communicate with users outside the nation, whether professionally or for personal matters.
