Air France, Lufthansa Group airlines part of EU greenwashing probe.

During the first week of May 2024, twenty European airlines officially declared that they were the subject of an investigation, currently underway, into the phenomenon of ‘greenwashing’.

The investigation in question is being run by the European Union and is aimed at shedding light on the environmental efforts undertaken by the companies: more precisely, it investigates to what extent claims concerning the reduction of CO2 emissions from vehicles can be supported by scientific evidence.

Transparency of the processes undertaken by the companies in question is crucial, however complex it may be to achieve fair and equal regulation for all EU members - given the lack of stable regulations in force.
