The beginning of 2024 was marked by unprecedented news: in February, Noland Arbaugh was the first patient to undergo surgery to connect a Neuralink chip to his brain, and at the time, the implant had not given any problems.

One month later, however, the device began to show signs of malfunctioning: its functionality began to decline shortly after the operation. Recently, the situation seems to have worsened further.

On Wednesday 8 May, in fact, the company stated that the Neuralink device had started to detach from the patient's brain - some of the wires had withdrawn, thus compromising the functioning of the connection with Neuralink. To date, although the company has not disclosed the cause of this hiccup, it has been stated that a team of engineers has perfected the implant and restored its functionality.
