The Internet world can be a minefield of lies, bluffs and threats. Not knowing who to trust is a daily doubt for most online users, within such a vast and sometimes anarchic environment, anyone has the power to instil anger, fear and distrust in others. So how should one behave when a notorious hacker group claims to have carried out a cyber attack against one of the world's largest online ticket sales platforms?

This is the case with the group ShinyHunters and the American platform Ticketmaster. Recently, the hackers in question claimed to have stolen the personal data of 560 million Ticketmaster customers, and thus to be in possession of users' names, addresses, phone numbers, and partial credit card data. To prevent the data from being sold to third parties, the group demanded a ransom payment of USD 500,000.
