Laws About Deepfakes Can’t Leave Sex Workers Behind.

The misuse of technology has existed since the beginning of the modern age, later accompanied by the spread of deepfakes created with the intent to defame, humiliate or mock potential victims. Well before the rise to power of artificial intelligence, this system was used to threaten the reputation of ex-girlfriends, friends and colleagues - the victims are, and were, usually women. 

As long as the threat remained contained in private and personal contexts, the law took no particular steps to counter the problem; but once this technology proved dangerous in political circles, and for particularly famous figures, the situation changed. In fact, recent developments in the field have seen a spike in attention concerning the topic.

Nevertheless, it seems that respect for the image of others is still not fully understood. The generation of deepfake content requires two people, thus threatening two victims: the celebrity placed in sexually explicit contexts and the sex worker whose content becomes public knowledge. The face of the first victim causes their image to be 'ruined', while the entire work of the second victim is completely exploited - both, of course, without consent.
