The last week of June saw theintroduction of a new bill, the first of its kind, entitled TAKE IT DOWN Act (Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks). The goal is, essentially, to "punish" social platforms for posting non-consensual images generated through deepfake technology.

The proposal put forward suggests, in addition, the implementation of a service to support and remove the offending image within 48 hours of the victim's request. Platforms must be able to demonstrate considerable commitment to resolving requests made by users-it is time for social media to be recognized as responsible for the dissemination of nonconsensual pornographic content.

The rapid growth of this trend has endangered countless victims, who have been forced to act as best they can to protect their privacy and reputations. Congress, therefore, seems to have moved to prevent the future from reserving further such situations.
