The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is receiving a huge level of support following the lawsuit filed against two generative music startups. Until now, the RIAA has always been regarded as the bogeyman of digital media-cheering for it seems almost impossible.

The current situation features two generative artificial intelligence models, Udio and Suno, both of which specialize in the field of music production. However, "production" may not be the most appropriate term, considering that their song generation process involves, like any other generative AI, the merging and manipulation of pre-existing sound samples. Needless to specify, considering the trends in the field, that the materials used by these models are Copyright protected and, therefore, used in violation of copyright.

The lawsuit, consequently, highlights the indiscriminate plundering of the entire history of music carried out by these two AI models.
