Apple’s Huge “Dual Use” Face Swap App Problem Is Not Going Away.

As mentioned in several articles published both in the past and recently, the use of deepfake technology to generate non-consensual pornographic content is not exactly new. The rise of artificial intelligence, in fact, has found its successor in the rapid fame that this misuse of deepfake technology is gaining.

Several bots and online sites are now available, some even free of charge, promising to create the content users crave; all they need is enough photographs of the victim, and of course a video or image to use as context. Recently, however, a number of ‘Face Swap’ applications offering the same function have also started to appear in the App Store.

The tech giant Apple does not seem to be particularly concerned about the spread of these media, which can give any paying user enormous power (for 20 euros a month, a rather derisory sum).
