Recently, Telegram seems to have become the focus of a series of rather serious scandals: CEO Pavel Durov was arrested by the French authorities during the last week of August, under the accusation of having allowed child pornography to be distributed on his platform; shortly afterwards, other news arose concerning its involvement in futher illicit activities.
South Korea is currently facing a crisis concerning pornographic content generated through deepfake technology: family members, colleagues and schoolmates have become unwitting victims of this disgusting practice. The platform in question has always been notoriously permissive with regard to the content shared within it, to the point of becoming the social favourite of criminals and miscreants seeking perverse personal gratification.
Thanks to its fame, Telegram has become the perfect territory for sharing and searching for the aforementioned, ending up in the crosshairs of the South Korean authorities.
